i am in the process of buying my first turkey blind for my second turkey hunt so i dont really know what to look for. i am looking in the mid to low 100's or less. i was in to sportsmans and saw this ameristep brickhouse tsc and really liked it. i wanted to know what you guys thought about this blind and what you liked/disliked about it, and if i should be looking at another blind. any advice will be helpful. thanks

I bought an Ameristep blind two years ago when I first started to bowhunt turkeys. It got moderate use and was well cared for. This past fall I took a cousin of mine out for a youth hunt. We set up my blind the weekend before so he could see what it was like before we hunted, and that's when one of my fiberglass rods snapped at the center connection point. I looked at all the other rods and noticed another rod about to fail. No easy way to fix so I called Ameristep. It took me two full days to get someone in customer service to call me back. He was going to send me out replacement parts but they didn't have any in stock

. He said he would direct ship them to me and I'd have them in 3-5 business days. To make a very long and complicated story short, I ended up finally getting the parts one month later. Not much good for the youth hunt but at least I got the parts. Another thing I'm not pleased with is the side pulls have torn around the center connection point as well and I continually have to repair those.

So take this for what it's worth, it's only one person's experience, but Ameristep lost me as a customer. I think you'll see from quite a few posts on this subject that the majority of the members here use Double Bull products. Do a search on Double Bull or blind and see what you come up with. My next blind will be a DB. I'm hoping to limp the Ameristep along one more year and then I'm going to take the fabric off and use it for a ground blind or maybe to redo some old lawn chairs......

I really dont think youll like the brick house. We've have double bulls but I know that the price is kind of unreasonable, but at the same time very worth it.

But here is a great blind. The deluxe is the one that I can back up. Except it has zippers. But you can unzip them prior to the hunt. They will hold up and set up the same as the double bull (that being said they still arent a DB

great little blind and the small inconvieniences i believe would be worth saving the money. I have hunted with a buddy that has one. I believe the total is 4 turkeys have been shot "AT" out of that blind. hahahaha

I have a double bull and everything ive heard about double bull's customer service is great. You get your part, or replaced right away.

I have two ameristep blinds. I have the BrickHouse and the Intimadator. The brickhouse is a little cheap and it has some flaws. If you can bump up the price a little to the intimadator I would get that. I have that one and love it. If you were at the Iowa Deer Classic they had them there for 160. Good luck.

yeah that does seam like a really nice, well built blind but the camo pattern really doesnt look all that great. it would probably work just fine though.

The price I quoted was at the Deer Clasic which I believe is the price only at the Deer Classic. I would look at Scheels.

i called scheels and they said they had a Scheels Boondocks. it sells for 250 and is supposed to be the same thing as the matrix 360 except less money. i know that you cant get a blind that sets up much easier than that matrix but this guy said it did and he said it has a better camo pattern. i think that i am going to go check it out this week and see what he is talking about. has anyone used this blind or heard anything about it?

The scheels blind is NOT half the blind the DB is in my opinion. In person it looked smaller and less sturdy.

thanks for the warning. i just might have to talk my brother into splitting a double bull with me since that is what all you guys suggest. do you know of anywhere that sells them for under 400 or of anyone having any good deals on them? if you do let me know. thanks for all the info guys.

You can call Double Bull. Sometimes they have specials going on and have a few discounted items.
