Ants!!??

I was disappointed to find my old moultrie cam (the wal-mart special) was infested with ants this June. It was my fault because I waited to long to check it and I did not put any bug spray around it. My question for the forum is are there some cameras that are sealed well enough so that you don't have to worry about infestations? I had the same problem with a cuddeback 3.0 the year before - I guess I am a slow learner.

I have had ants everytime as well...they're getting inside some, but don't seem to be doing any damage or going where the memory card is...any way to fix/prevent this??

I have a cudde 1.3 that got hammered by ants this summer and they put a nest inside of the cam and blew up the flash. Now it doesn't work and I need to send it in

Skunk r,---We have done a lot of testing
concerning ants in trail cams and we
found an easy solution is to take
a Q tip soaked with a product from
Home Depot called Ortho Home defence
It does not have that offensive smell
that might scare the deer and we did
not see where there was any damage to
the plastic. Do not put it on any of the
lens areas.

Great information! Where do you put the solution? just on the spots where ants could enter or all over (except the lense and sensors)

Also how often do you have to apply the Ortho Home Defense?

Thanks

I just wipe the inside of the lid and
around the areas that you think the ants
are entering. Solution is a tiny bit oily and is fairly residual. One
application should last 6 months.

Place the camera in a plactic bag and put it in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Take it out of the freezer and out of the bag and shake the ants out.

This happened to me earlier this year and it worked well for me.

Good Luck!
