Went to pull a trail cam yesterday and was wondering why my camera had stopped at 17 exposures. Well, I opened it up only to find that ants had gotten into it and decided to nest inside the camera. Hope it still works! Not so hot!!!!
Get a cheap stealth cam and you get what you pay for i guess. Got hte roll back and did have some good shots but most were junk. AFter an hour i think i finally got all the ants out.
I am not experienced with trail cams so this might be out of left field.
As far as the ants go is there enough room where it closes to the main body that you could put some kind of rubber gasket around it or does it already have one?
I have the same problem with ants. My friends and I all use DeerCam's and there is space the ants can get in on the bottom where the little switch is. I checked 3 cams last weekend and 2 had ants in them. I have not noticed that it affects the pictures though.
Also anyone experiencing ants in their cam can try putting a little cayenne pepper in cam, perhaps in a little bottle cap or such.Seems the ants dont care for it...
