Anyone hear about huge 8 found

Just wondering if anyone heard about the huge 8 pointer found with an arrow still in it in Illinois? There is a small thumbnail of it on the Illinois Bowsite, supposedly it has 20" G-2's & scores around 186", what a hog! I know a little about a supposedly new Illinois state record that was hit & not recovered but I don't know if this is the one or not, I think it is becasue it does reference a guy who hit a big one renting an airplane to try to find it. If that's the case I know who shot it?

That is Dan Perez holding the rack....he lives in Pike County by Atlas and Pleasant Hill. I'll see if I can find out more info.

Those G2's are incredible.I would not have ever given up on lookin for that boy.I would have lost my job.That is awesome.The guy that shot that animal has got to be kickin him in the kahonas right about now.
 
Wow! More than one tree paid the price to polish those bad boys.
Are those main beams touching or are they offset a little?
 
This buck was shot in early November and recovered March 17th, 2005. I just talked with a buddy of mine who knows Dan and hes going to give him a shout. Im sure the details will be out soon. I know he has been looking for this thing for a long time and even rented a airplane or helicopter to look for it back when he shot it.

Truly a amazing animal, to bad he couldn't have found it right away. Will it still go in the books if it is not recovered during hunting season?
 
i'm pretty sure it can go in the books. but, who cares. whether or not a buck makes it in some book is meaningless. what matters most is the hunter claiming his trophy. its just unfortunate that he couldn't have found him sooner

I bet that buck was king of the woods. His G3's curl inboard and create great protection and his G2's are like spears. I bet he didn't have any problem standing his own ground.

I agree teeroy, the books don't mean much to me, NOW, to have that rack in your hands and be able to say I shot this buck thats a different story. I was just curious how that worked, if you didn't actually have possesion of the buck until after season.
 
Wow, just looking at the skull plate, you'd think that thing had a head like a steer!My hats off to the hunter, he definately put a great effort forth to retrieve that thing.
 
The effort has to be commended.I know if I was in his shoes I wouldn't have given up either.T-roy is right,The books would not matter to me either.As long as that Bad boy is on my wall then they can keep the book.

Ghost...you've absolutely right! What other buck in his right mind is gonna mess with that dude. Has anyone seen an eight pointer that scored as well as this one is going to?
