Apple Trees;

I was reading the comments about apple tree plantings. Very interesting. The comment by Mr. L Grimes,,and that he planted 30 trees. He may not know, that you should prune your trees yearly. If you want to encourage apple production. I had 16 trees on my place in MI, and I'll tell you,,, is a BIG job pruning them every spring! Might think twice about planting so many. Unless they come up with self-prunning varieties.

Probably depends what purpose you have for the apple trees. For wildlife food, doubt a person needs to prune a lot and put a lot of work into it. I see plenty of feral apples that have no care and do fine for wildlife.
