Are older bucks attracted to older does?

When hunting bucks, we all know to focus on does in and around the breeding season. My question to all those 'wise' and seasoned hunters out there is: are bucks mostly attracted to does close in age (much like humans close in age are 'usually' attracted)? One of my deer stands is in a bottleneck area where there are a lot of young deer while I see a lot of older deer in another location. Some additional knowledge on this would be interesting to factor into trophy hunting strategies. Thanks for any input.

If they're like people, I'd say does of all ages!!!

I'm guessing in the animal kingdom it's how ready & receptive a female is as opposed to how "young and attractive' she is.
No discrimination involved!

Unlike we "superior beings", they look at breeding as the continuation of the species, not just notches on their antlers!!

You might be better off hunting near the older does. The yearling does come in heat late and sometimes not at all, as far as I understand.

On the other hand, if you're in a good bottle neck I wouldn't worry. Those are the places to be during the rut.

If this holds true, you may want to look at the young ones. Especially if you are going after the "Billy Joel" of the deer world; he just married a 23 yr old girlfriend over the weekend...he's 55.

BTW, his daughter is 19. EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW

If I had an option of hunting over young ones to old ones, I would choose to hunt over mature does. I think it really doesn't matter, and besides a rutting buck likes any hot doe. I think they avoid hanging out with youngsters as they are more prone to danger. Over all though, they are always interacting in some way or form. So I would assume the older bucks prefer a mature doe.

I read a very interesting article in some national hunting magazine a few yrs back, that suggested that Big Bucks have been known to exhibit a peculiar human behavior, once they hit the 5 yr mark, and go into a phase commonly known as "mid-life crisis"....whereas they tend to seek out the youngest, hottest does they can get their antlers on

i was told early in the rut, big bucks go for big does, so use a older doe call, latter in the rut, buck take all the A55 they can get
