A Few Steps Ahead Of You
im not really superstitious, but when im getting beat up and not killing deer, i have a tendancy to not shave for long periods of time......and I wait till i kill somthing before i do shave...

what do you guys do??????
just curious to see if im the only freakshow out there...

When I am in a lull like that i spend a lot of time on Iowa Whitetail to find out what everyone else is doing to be successful.

I guess eating Pork Chops doesnt work!

Same here!

I don't shave from September 15th till I kill my buck and if I don't i shave after all seasons! This ear I am also not cutting my hair, which is getting horrible!

I have a lot of little things I do, I won't wear a face mask walking in, but if I put it on, I won't take it off till I am out of the woods! Lots of weird stuff!

I expected no less from you.

I usualy start the season off sacrificing a chicken and it goes downhill from there.

The 'Bonker

Two years ago my daughter handed me a rock and told me it was for good luck. That night I killed my deer bowhunting. Last year she handed me another rock, again that night I killed my deer bowhunting. Last year last season muzzy she handed me another rock. I didn't kill my deer that night but I did 3 days later. The rock is only kept in my front left pocket and after a harvest the rock is retired and put into a jar because she told me the rock is only good for luck once. Needless to say I don't go to the stand with out one of her lucky rocks. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Last year, I told myself, as well as my girlfriends father, that I wasn't going to shave until I shot a deer. This was at the beginning of bow season, assuming I could pick off a doe at the end of the season if I needed to. I flung an arrow over the back of a real good buck just after mid-season, and I think it cursed me. I never got a clean shot at a single deer. My girlfriends father held me to my word. I had to wait until the beginning of January and late muzzleloader season to shave. Needless to say, I had more of a beard than I've ever had before, but killing that buck was even more of a joy!!! I think I'll keep my mouth shut from now on.

This year I'm going to create an altar to Bill Jordan on the highest hill of the farm, and I'll offer up my firstborn. (Don't worry, I don't have one) After that I will sprinkle Doe-in-Heat juice (incense) all over the place.

I look at my arrows and see which one I have a good feeling about before noching it. I switch it up quite a bit too.

Yep, I am very superstitious.

I will be changing my last name to HANSON, it has worked for Milo & Steve! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Baseball players are notorious for superstitions, but the longer I think about them, the more I realize I'm a complete moron for thinking that putting on my right sock before my left will somehow make me play better or shoot a bigger deer....

so, now I call them routines that help keep you fucused!! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Routines are good, superstitions not so good...

I always thought your superstition was eating a pound of bacon after the morning hunt?

I guess that is just a routine huh? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Good Idea!!

While field dressing my first kill of the year I take a bite out of it's raw bloody heart. From then on, the Great Spirit guides me through the rest of the year with patience and good fortune.

Also I quit shaving like the rest of you guys.

So i decided to mix things up this year.
Normally i dont shave for extended periods of time, but today after work, im headed to the barber to get my hair cut and then off to the house to become clean shaven and pretty........
or whatever,
but a change in plans just to mix things up a bit......

but im not superstitious....
