Anyone hunt in the area near Mt. Ayr, Leon, Lamoni? I may be hunting in the area this fall. Going down to scout out a property this weekend. I've never hunted near there or southern Iowa at all, Just central and far western, and little bit of Mahaska county. I always hear about southern Iowa and that seems to be where all they hype is so I'm pretty excited, but not getting my hopes up. Just curious if anyone else hunts in the area, how is the deer population and hunting pressure? I'm trying to decide do I want to hunt down there or in the western part (Loess Hills).

You won't have any problem finding deer. They are thick.

The area is a great area, but there isn't a booner hiding behind every tree. Good luck this fall.
