great find. I look for them in my creek while going in or out of the creek. Just think the last person to touch that was a indian.(native american)sorry.
What's the dimension's? It might be a spear point, not an arrowhead. Take it to the U of I archeaology dept. and show it to a prof. They'll be able to tell you what culture made it and about when it was made.
I am from Tahlequah, Oklahoma in NE Oklahoma. Lake Tenkiller is feed by the Illinois river and there is absolutely thousands of arrowheads down there. We used to go fishing on Tenkiller and people would be lined up on the banks looking for arrowheads. The one you have is in very great shape. Neat Find
I have yet to find an arrowhead even though there was supposedly an Indian village on land we hunt on. I lady I use to work with in Des Moines arrowhead hunts and has found 3-400 of them. It's AMAZING how sharp they are!
Artifacts like that are very intruiging to me. If you are ever in Washington D.C. and enjoy that kind of thing go to the national native american museum. There is all kinds of it there along with explanations on what everything is and how it was made and what it was used for.
