I finally found the deer I shot bowhunting. Problem is that someone found it before I did and lopped the head off. I found part of my arrow around the site though which was spead out from coyotes. He was laying 100 yards from where I shot him.

Plus I found another deer minus a head. That makes 2 bucks minus heads and 2 does shot and left for no reason. Not counting the one I shot and never recovered.......

Wow, only 100 yards. That must have been some thick stuff. Do you think you walked within a few feet of him while searching aftre the shot? That sucks Moosehunter.

Better luck next time.

100 yards from the stand but, Me and my help trailed him for close to a mile and half before I lost him in a different woods a day 1/2 later. My guess is it took him a week or so to expire. It still bothers me I couldn't find him back then. But it does motivate me to become the best shot I can be so hopefully it doesn't happen again. .....

Wow! That sucks big time. Hate to see that kind of activity going on anywhere. Any idea on who could possibly be doing that to the deer? I've had a couple deer take off for the next county to only find that they did a huge circle and come back to where I originally shot it. Wonder if something like that happened. I've heard about that happening to other hunters also. Sorry to hear about the other guys taking deer heads. Sounds like a big problem in your area.

I'd agree FireDog, circled back - I hear that alot. I'm sure it would have been found if it dropped 100 yds from the stand initially.
