I spoke with Kammi Rankin today at the Polk County Conservation Office. I know many of you have asked this question to me before. This is the anwser that I recieved from them in regards to hunting private ground inside the city limits of WDM.
As for West Des Moines, they have City ordinances in place for bowhunting. You have to have quite a few acres to hunt on private land, but I think that will change in the future. They are concentrating right now on public land (specifically Southwoods Park). I would encourage private landowners to contact the Park and Recreation Department if they are interested in hunting on their land and push for that new ordinance perhaps by next year.
