Awesome night!

Well this doesn't involve a big set of antlers but I am sure I wouldn't trade it for a set.

My son and I went out tonight to get him his first bow deer. He missed a little buck last year and still remembers it like it was yesterday. We set up in a ground blind we had put up Friday on the edge of picked bean field and it wasn't long before we had does entering the field just out of his range. Finally the bigger doe of the bunch worked her way to his 20 yd mark. She was a little nervous as she was looking at the newly placed blind. I told him to wait until she looked back at the others before he drew back. She finally reached around to lick her opposite side, giving him a chance to draw back. I whispered to remind him to follow through with his shot and he let her go. The arrow hit it's mark and she went down 60 yds later. He couldn't have been more excited.

We found half of his arrow and went to claim his prize. After field dressing her we saw that he smoked her heart. I was impressed with his razor's edge and 40ke rage. I'm not a rage fan but only pulling about 40 lbs the arrow went through and through, taking out a couple ribs on it's way.

It was definitely a night he will never forget. First deer with his bow and I am thankful I was able to be there to experience it with him.

Congrats to both of you...a hunt neither will ever forget :way:

My 12 year old son shoots the same bow, and yeah, I'm impressed at the speed and flat trajectory coming out of 41 or 42 lbs...great little bow.

It can really rattle your nerves when an old wind-bag sees you and does the head bob and foot stomp! Congrats to him for keeping it together and taking a nice doe from the ground! :way:

Nothing like a good time in the woods with pops, I can still remember every hunt I've ever been on with my father and I cherrish them all. Congrats to you and your boy, awesome shot on a big ol swamp donkey.
