No real answers to any of the pending issues up for grabs right now with your state. I do have my opinions on them though. I guess there will be opposing opinions with anything that is as important as hunting changes. I guess I grew up in the old country as far as hunting ethics and common respect goes. I can only let you know my standards in my hunting practices though. I could go on and on about the rate hikes on non-resident fees, the non-resident land owner rights, also -- the ethical rights of resident hunters who have put in hard work to make it as nice as Iowa hunting is right now. I guess I can only tell you how I conduct myself as a hunter. No matter what the cost of non-resident tags, it's a privilage to hunt in another state other than your own. I spend a lot of time in Iowa filming and taking outdoor pictures for articles. I've found nothing but good people and great hunting standards in every spot I've been in. Says a lot for Iowa. And if by chance I was driving down the road and seen some poor bugger sweating to haul his deer out.......I'd be the first to stop and give him a hand. Then I shake it and tell him congrats! I guess in my book, hunters need to stick together in times like this. The timber doesn't end at the state line, it continues in all states. Just as there are many respectful hunters in Iowa -- There are true hunters in every state as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is we owe it to the animals we hunt to stick together and make the best decisions we can for their well being and continued healthy living. Hunters are one of the only people out there that truly understand this. I can tell from reading all I have here, Iowa has very dedicated sportsman. It's not the state people who will make the changes, it's the people who have put them there. Start writing and voice your opinions! Trust me -- They read every one of those letters and take them very serious. Strength comes in numbers when it comes to changes in hunting regulations. To quote something someone once said -- " Hunters are Fathers, Mothers, Sons and Daughters, all of good people " So I guess in ending, all I'm trying to say is to stick together as hunters and fight for what you think is right. Doesn't matter what state your from. I'll be the first one there if you need a hand and I don't even live there!

Good luck in the timber for 2002!

High Country,

Welcome aboard. Thanks for the kind words. As I see it you are welcome to hunt in this state anytime!

Thanks for the nice welcome guys..... I do spend a lot of time in the waterloo area. Have spent a great deal of time near Burlington as well. It's all very awesome country and the people are even better! I'm doing my best right now to be able to relocate to the Cedar Falls / Waterloo area. Lots of things to be taken care of first, but I'm getting much closer to making it a reality. I can promise you one thing -- I'll be involved very heavy in doing my part to bring something to the hunting community there. Kind of a "give back" thing, you know? I plan on being in DM next classic, hope to meet as many of you as possible!
