NEW HAMPTON (AP) — A cow will have to be euthanized after it was shot by an arrow early Wednesday, officials with the Chickasaw County sheriff’s office said.
Lt. Todd Miller said the owners of the cow found it about 7:25 a.m. and called the sheriff’s office.
The cow had been shot in the midsection. It survived but will have to be euthanized, he said.
Miller said the cow was either led or dragged to another area on the farm, possibly for butcher. It was abandoned as the people responsible for shooting it were possibly interrupted, he said.
Miller said the arrow was recovered but he would not disclose what kind of weapon fired it.
The investigation was continuing.
