Bad timing

Since I already filled my tag, I talked a buddy of mine into letting me videotape his hunts. Saturday afternoon about 2:30 we went to one of my spots. I climbed up my tree and got settled just in time to see a nice buck skirting us about 90 yards up the hill. The problem was that my buddy was only about 5 ft up his tree with his bow on the ground. I told him to stop so he did. After the buck left I motioned for him to hurry up and get up the tree, but after about 2 minutes I heard some crunching so I motioned for him to stop again. I looked to the right and there he was, on his way in at about 80 yards. He walked right up to me ( 12 yards ). He continued right past my buddy at about 30 yards, but he had his head buried in the tree since he didn't have a facemask or gloves on yet either. He never got to see that buck until he watched the video. Terrible timing.

Went through the same thing yesterday.I'm about 6 foot up my tree and a little forkie comes within 10 yards of me before he hits the scent trail I laid down on the way in, lucky for me he followed it in the wrong direction.
