Baiting them Bears

I didn't have time to bear hunt, but, I had time to put a barrel out. I wish I would've checked it sooner and made a day to hunt! I'll have this bait in a lot earlier next season (April) instead of the end of May next year. If I have some time I'll put one out this fall, but, the elk hunters are brutal in this area.

Yes, over the counter bear tags in Wyoming. Not here in Colorado! Those take 2 years to draw even as a Resident even though we have 40+ on the ranch during season wrecking the corn. It's funny to see how many bears we kill on the ranch vs. how many are killed in the entire unit. On any given year we kill 95-100% of the total bear count for the unit.

What happens is a lot of inexperienced elk hunters will just drive up to it and walk around through it instead of walking from a mile away. They bust everything out the second they start driving up the road. I don't have to deal with it in spring because there are rarely turkeys and no shed hunters after May 10th.
