I just got done buying 5 different brands of stands. All hang on, good size platforms... Big Game, MUDDY, River's Edge, Guide gear, or something?, Big Dog, etc. I went the cheaper route because I needed quite a few. All were fairly similar in quality and I believe all were made in China.
The most expensive - Muddy, I thought I remembered being a little better. The last time I purchased them I think they were assembled? Well, the amount of time I spent assembling all these was astounding. With Muddy so much more - I was surprised to see it was fairly typical Chinese cheap steel and only big difference was the adjustable part which is critical to me. It was the Outfitter stand, so not sure if the higher priced models are better? Still way over $100.
The others were around $50-75 or so and those were also cheaper & need assembly. Bigger platforms but not adjustable.
All needed more ratchet straps and I purchased chains for all because I have too many folks I know who have broke the straps (they rot, they are cheap and not safe IMO) even though you can replace stuff. Chains are one extra thing along with 1-2 ratchet straps that added $15 or so to each set up. I'm fine with that but sure wish they came in a condition I felt safe about since I'm talking about my friend's and family's live's here. Wish the companies would take the DVD's out and have them assembled right (which is a safety issue for folks possibly assembling wrong), get rid of the spider-web harnesses and put that $ into quality/safety of the stand.
SO- sorry for the explanation - what are some other models that are rock solid, some that have adjustments and not have the "Chinese junk" feel?
Is LONE WOLF made in America (yes, I need to just go to their website) and are the quality of those still what they are many years ago? Prices way up? other companies? I want my next round to be quality, solid stands that i feel extremely safe with, sturdy, lasting & some adjustable for crooked trees. Which are some top tier companies & stands? Possibly some options I don't have to sell a kidney to buy (as yes, I have a lot of set-ups). obviously I'm being as 100% non-biased as possible, have no relation to any of these companies and just want all's input. Thx!
