any info/feedback/philosphy on age you would start kids shooting and what types of bows are best to get kids would be helpful.
 
The younger the better. When mine were small 3 or 4 yrs old I started them off with small recurve bows and then as they grew i bought them whatever I could find that fit them, Nowadays the Genesis bows can pretty much be used at a very young age, if the kids are big enough to hunt deer or larger game you might consider a little more aggressive bow , There are alot of choices out there. Good luck and it's never too early to get a bow in thier hands.
 
My 5 year old daughter has been shooting a Genesis bow for the past year and loves it! I love to shoot it also!
 
i have not talked witht he tech at the bow shop yet but i assume you tighten the tension on the genesis bow
 
PSE makes a good youth bow I believe it's the PSE Spyder. What I really liked about the bow was the wide range of draw weights. Most bows only have 10 lbs of adjustment. The spyder comes in a 10-30 lb or a 25-45lb. And draw lengths from 16-21" or 21-25". If your youngster can pull 25lbs then he can grow up to 45lbs. Most places sell them as a package with sight rest quiver and string loop. Check it out.
 
for learning to shoot, the genesis...ands down. when it comes time to get a bow to hunt with, its the same answer to "who makes the best bow?". shoot as many as you can, and pick what feels best. bowtech, mathews, hoyt, parker, pse all make quality youth bows. true, some of them have a narrow range, that your young hunter may grow through quickly, but some have additional limbs that you can exchange as the child grows. or, the market for used youth bows is always strong
 
I bought my son a Parker Buckshot at CIA. They told me to buy the 40-50# bow. It actually goes down to about 25#. Draw length goes from 18-28". My son is 10 and is already shooting pretty good groups out to 20 yards.
