Not much of a turkey season really. This morning was basically my third hunt and I hunted some land that is hardly, if ever, touched. I set up in the wide WIDE open and had pretty good luck. Saw a few good birds surrounded by 15 or so jakes. When 5 jakes walked by just before 6 a.m. at 10 yards and I would not be able to hunt again until next year I didn't hesitate. Hit him right below the beard and it came out between his wings. He went 20 yards, flipped over, and scratched the sky! I think I've hunted maybe 8 or 9 total hours this spring (with bow in hand) and I can't complain. Two jakes in hand are worth a dozen gobblers in the bush!
