Just wanted to show off a hard won turkey from the hill's.It's been 2 year's of chasing to finally knock one down. He's a 2 year old and only weighed 16#'s.
Limb say's there not that tough but I'll tell you I'v never had so much trouble trying to fill a tag before.
As you can see in the picture the weather was a little on the cold side,We fought snow, rain, sleet freezing temp's and wind, other then that it was not to bad

.Anyway it felt good to finally put one on the ground and I'm already looking forward to next year.
Limb,if I ever find that pocket of bird's you got hidden out there I'm going to be in turkey heaven.

Good job. My in-laws live in Rapid. They hunt turkeys different than I do here in eastern SD. They do more of a spot and stalk type of hunt rather than call them in. Whatever works!

Congrats on Merriam. I know what your talking about. I went out there two years ago and got one but it was tough.

You broke the ice now Roy! Nothin but stompin now!

Did you head to the area I suggested this year at the classic?

We stayed central again this year Limb, the group vote won out.We found a great little area with alot of bird's but they were spooky from all the local rifle's going off, seem's like everybody out there hunt's them with high power's.I think we will do fine once we all get a better feel for were they go and there habit's and the terrain make's it tough to for us old guy's

.They are a completely different bird then what we are used to hunting but it's a blast to run and gun'em!You cannot sit and call'em out there you have to move with them. They hit the ground running and never seem to stop to mill around, they are alway's on the move.
Bronc,we had no problem's at all with bug's,we were camped at 6,970 feet and it got below freezing almost every morning.
