What other scary thoughts go through your mind when walking to the stand in the dark?

Mountain Lion Sitting in your stand!!

Not that this thought has ever needed to run itself thru my mind but I would imagine some of you "not-so-single-guys" have probably thought,

"Is my key still gonna work when I get home?"

I would have to say my scary thought is...

Is that big buck laying under my stand, ready to laugh and run away as I approach?

Wild dogs scare the hell out of me. I have ran into them too many times in the dark with nothing but a bow. It is pretty eery when a pack of wild dogs are circling you in the dark. Needless to say the two major times it happened I was within 20 yards of my tree. Both times I don't even remember climbing the tree either

I Agree! One morning i was walking to my stand, and there 50yards in front of me was a huge Saint banard. The first thing i thought was KUJO!!!

The good thing was he was a real friendly dog! The bad thing was he slept at the bottom of my tree stand the whole morning!

Mountain Lions scare the hell out of me. Back home they are very common, with them going onto the furbearers list in another year or so. I've heard those things scream in the early morning or after dark, and that is one eery sound.

Clowns with sharp teeth and blood-shot eyes dancing around under my stand!

leprechauns!!!!

sometimes i get a little concerned during the rut, i've heard of ruttin bucks attacking people in broad day light, who knows what they would do in the dark!!

I don't know about scary things in the dark, but I was sitting in stand last night, and there was a squirrel chasing another for about 20 min. I wasn't sure if he was trying to get a piece of a$$ or something, but he chased the other one up a tree 3 feet away from my stand, next thing I know I had a flying squirrel leap right over my head and what I'm guessing was less than a foot from my face. That got my hear racing. The only thing I could think about the rest of the night was if those things carry rabies?

I've had coyotes circling me while walking out of the stand. Not a pleasant moment...I don't use estrus anymore and haven't had that problem since.

Kind of freaky when you yell loudly and they just "tighten" the circle. Nothing like walking backwards in the dark for 200yds.

When we were on our hog hunt in Texas, it was running into a hog, or buffalo, here in Iowa a skunk being in my ground blind.

Agreed! When it happened to me I had goose bumps all over my body. Every time at dusk when I hear them sounding off it freaks me out and its all I think about walking back to the truck. Every chance I get I'm gonna
