I choked on a 30 yard shot a two weeks ago on the first buck I attempted to shoot this year. I had to tell myself that it happens and use it as a learning experience. Also had to tell myself that I was having "fun" though it didn't seem that way at the time.
No excuses not the first and I'm sure its not the last.
Shot right under him. I went out today and did a bunch shooting. I was right on. I even took a few at 40 and 50 yards and was hitting the mark. Must have been the antlers. I know I was shaking BAD. I love that feeling.
I guess a clean miss is better than a bad hit. Ill get him next time.
1) Hit a twigg at a deer
2) Something stuck in cam: could not draw bow
3)Deer ducked close shot and grazed him
4) Bigggggggg buck winded me at 30 yards (only 2 more steps!!!!!)
5) Doe with a buck saw me draw and she busted out of there taking the buck with
***all of that happened in 5 days of hunting in a row and all were different bucks***
i feel your pains and will be out after shotgun with both a muzzleloader AND a bow!!!
I know how you feel! Missed a 160" ten point at 8 yards (I think I might puke! was the post). Hope you get a chance later in the season to connect. Keep your head up and good luck!
Been there man. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that screwed up a possible wall hanger this year. My case I didn't miss. I didn't even shoot. I actually drew on him and waited for him to step into an opening. He wouldn't move and I wimped out. I had to let down. Of course then he stepped through. Then he stood totally broadside at about 35yds and I didn't want to try the shot because there was some small branches blocking me. I really didn't want to screw him up. For an hour and half, a doe an him stood around within 40yd of my stand. Can't believe that I didn't shoot him. I've never been so tense for so long. I was exhausted after that hunt.
