Blind setup question

How far do you open the front of the blind up? Just enough to shoot out of or wide open for max viewing?

I moved my blind again yesterday. Unfortunately it has to be south facing so the sun will be shining in all day. I usually like to keep the openings as small as possible and sit close to the front with just enough opening to shoot through. Now I wonder if I should open them up and sit as far back in the darkness of the blind as I can. If I sit farther back I’ll need wider openings to be sure I don’t shoot the blind.

I dunno. I see pics of blinds you can step into and out of through the openings and blinds with very little opening.

Thanks.

Either way works. Bowhunting my darkhorse is wide open 180 degrees. I sit near the back. Gun hunting I dont open them as much. I usually have the barrel about flush with the blind or in a few inches. I dont worry about the sun as much gun hunting. If they are within 60 yards their dead. Even when you are at 30 its tough to see in the blind. When the birds get into 5 yards i do beleive its an issue. Of course if you wearing bonkerflauge it may be an issue at any distance.

When you're trying to hide an elephant in a shower stall, it doesn't matter if the door is closed a little or a lot. Could be your problem is you didn't get the cat hair out of your mouthcall. I heard you across the valley and I thought it was a asthmatic blue heron being raped by a hoot owl.

Geez TR. There are two things in life you should never do. Thing one is tell new parents how ugly their kid is and thing two you should never tell a guy how bad his turkey calling is. It just flies in the face of societal norms. You should just smile and say “Cute kid” and “Why Bonker, I am shocked beyond belief that you weren’t run over by long beards”.

I did like “I thought it was a asthmatic blue heron being raped by a hoot owl”. That was a good line. Who came up with that one up for ya?

Uh, the one other thing a guy shouldn't do is complain about the camp cooking. I believe the rule is that the complainer becomes the new cook? Course I don't think we could live on chocolate covered donuts and Coors light.

It was all good until you mentioned the tapifreakinoca. I’d still be eating it if you hadn’t said that. I can gag down the carrots and peas, but tapifreakinoca pushed me over the line. I realize I live pretty close to the line 24/7 but tapifreakinoca shoved me over.
Now Silver Bullets and little chocolate donuts….MMMMmmmmmm

I usually have my dark horse open enough to shoot through with a couple inches of opening high and low in direct line of my jake decoy. I will check out of the sides periodically but I have found that most of the birds I spot out of the sides are the ones that hang up anyways. I wear black and sit as far back as possible. I've had quite a few toms on the decoys and have never been caught drawing my bow.
