Boot Blankets??

I have the Arctic Shield brand and I love them. They are very warm and the glove system by Arctic Shield is very warm as well. In my opinion well worth the money.

I also wear the arctic shield boot insulators and LOVE them! They are bulky and you need a big platform stand to support them and you, but well worth the $$.

Are they big enough to accomodate rubber boots. The foot on the rubber boots seems to be so big, I've often wondered if the boot blankets would fit over them. If they do, I'll be ordering some.

I have the Ice Breaker Boot Blankets, which are the big fat puffy ones. They will fit over my 600 gram lacross boots and will defintely keep you warm. I tested them the first time by only wearing one, and it made a huge difference that was obvious within an hour. The uncovered foot got cold quickly while the other stayed toasty all morning. They are a big pain to carry due to their size though.

If I can hijack your thread a bit I have an additional question. I also tried the Arctic shield brand a couple years ago because they are so much more portable. They were warm, not as warm as the Ice Breakers but the portability made up for that and were warm enough 90% of the time. I hated the Velcro closures though and the design was hard to slide on your boots. The new ones shown in Cabelas, etc, show a drawstring around the top and a zipper in the back like the Ice Breakers. Has anybody tried the new AS style and if so are there any drawbacks?

I've used both the IceBreakers and those made by ArcticShield and both work well. The only drawback to the Icebreakers was the bulkiness. The ArcticShield boot covers pack down really nicely because they derive their warmth from a body-heat reflective layer rather than from insulation. Both have kept my feet warm in the cold temps. I find myself using the ArcticShield ones more often because of convenience and they are easier to maneuver around in the stand with them on. I've got the new style ArticShield boot covers. They have a vertical zipper at the heel and a drawstring around the top. Greatly improved design in my opinion, and lots quieter. They fit perfectly over my size 12 LaCrose boots (I ordered a size X-large in the ArcticShield).

I'll second Limb's opinion on the ArticShield System Gloves. Best handgear I've found for bowhunting and I've tried more than a few. The liner gloves are great, even when it's warm for shooting with a release on. When it get chilly, just put on the overmitten and you can stay out all day with toasty fingers.

I have had a pair of Arctic Sheild for several years. As for keeping your feet warm they work GREAT.I usually wear a pair of lightweight shoes underneath depending on snow conditions. One drawback is they are bulky, but I will work with that considering the warmth gained from them. There also great to slide down hills with

I was at Scheel's tonight, and saw the ArticShield System Gloves. They are pretty light weight for a mitten/glove combo. I know that is because of the design, but I was wondering how they do in late December and January. I will probably be getting one of those Rocky fleece handwarmers for Christmas, so I was wondering if you ArticShield people thought that combo would work well in the late season. I hate cold fingers. Thanks

Camo, I guess it just depends on how easily you get cold. I have the both the A.S. system gloves and the boot blankets. I get cold pretty easily. When it gets below freezing they do NOT keep me warm unless I put hand/toewarmers in them. They help a lot, they're just not enough by themselves. Hope this helps.
