THA4

A Few Steps Ahead Of You
I will be taking my pregnant wife bow hunting this october, and she doesnt feel comfortable climbing a stand being that pregnant, especially when she will be 35 weeks along

So we will be hunting from a ground blind. (probably a DB Matrix) that will be brushed in.
my question is this:

While Deer hunting
Do we hunt with the screens up and shoot through the netting,

or should we wear black and shoot with the screens up and out of the way??

any input is appreciated!!

i know while turkey hunting the turks dont seem to mind the black holes the open windows create, do the deer??

You are going to want to keep the screens down and shoot thru them. Deer don't like the black hole effect by wearing black and keeping the screens up. Goodluck!!

Be an interesting year for me as well. I am confined to a ground blind most of the season, if not all of it due to an injury.

i have whacked em out of a db. shoot through the screens. brush it in. It'd be nice fi you could take it out and leave it sit where you want to hunt.

I would have to agree with this Thomas.
Just dont shoot a gun through the netting.

I have the T5 and what i do is set it up I clean the brush back and get it brushed it good and have the windows open to were you can see and i have the flap windows and when i am getting ready to shoot i pull the window down i want to shoot out of and let' er' rip' little bit easier done with me since i have a cross bow im allready to shoot but i also did this earlier in the year last year with my buddy when he took a lil buck with a compound i just dropped the window and soon as i dropped he put his pin on it and let' her' rip'

The few times I have used ground blinds, when I put them up I have brushed them in and opened the windows to where I want them and leave them open.

I have hunted out of ground blinds alot(DB and ASAT) and deer will not tolerate no screens over the windows. Netting needs to be in place and brushed in works better than not brushed in. I would not leave them out over night due to theft possibility(Remember there are hunters out at night chasing raccoons with dogs that might be tempted to keep a $400 blind they happen across) Brush pockets large enough for a ground blind can be made during the preseason that a blind can be slipped into during the hunt so as not to look out of place.

Has anyone found a mechanical that does work through the nets on a Matrix?
Rage 2 Blade?

Will not tolerate??

I wouldn't "advise" it. but I have shot 5 deer out of a DB. They tolerated it fine, until they got sliced.

Dewy,
Rocket steel heads, jak hammers any thing with no L shaped blades and no rearward opening mechs.

I have also found that with the matrix the netting is not as big of deal with does or with bucks if you have a decoy out. But the T5 and the others with the oval shaped windows the don't like but sometimes curiosity kills the doe...

Thanks Guys,
we will probably go with the net down, and see how it goes....
Muzzy's shouldnt have a problem zipping through and we are looking for does.....
any does.
hopefully she whacks one!!

Good luck to ya'll. Hope she connects.

I've never understood how the netting doesn't affect arrow flight. I'm not too familiar with the DB blinds, but most blinds that I've seen have loose window nets, I'd think you would want them as tight as possible.
