Hey guys I noticed back this fall that my fletching had a black streak on it...didnt think much of it then one day i noticed that my rest had white marks on it...and as im shooting i noticed that my arrow kicks while in flight...Im going to be getting new arrows but the rest is going to stay..how do i fix this? Could the issue be in the arrows themselves? I am going to start extending my shooting distances so I want to make sure that my accuracy isnt going to comprimised. I am shooting a PSE Brute X with QAD ultrarest

The QAD I had was dropping fast enough but it was bouncing off my arrow shelf and coming up into my arrow. I fixed it by putting on a new rest. I went with the vapor trail pro v.

You could shoot cock feather down and hope it's out of the way.

Assuming the rest is working properly you need your bow tuned, it's not set up correctly.

I had heard that the vapor trails are supposed to be the best for the PSE...didnt really want a new rest but oh well!

As far as tuning goes, where would be a good place to take my bow? I live in Decatur County..thanks

This is funny. I just installed Mudingbuck's old, my new, QAD hdx on my Hoyt Maxxis. I used to have the Hunter Model, which it looks like you also have. I had the same problem your having with that rest and my bow shop convinced me to switch to a Code Red. I liked the CR but did not like that it dropped on a slow let down. I had the Hunter on an older bow and had no problem with fletching contact. Thats why I bought the HDX. Before installing it myself I researched set up issues.

It is possible that your rest is making contact due to bounce. The more expensive QADs all have a lock down feature. Yours does not. I think it's unlikely but possible.

During my internet search for QAD problems the most common issue I found was where people had the rest cord attached to the down cable. It needs to be mounted low, like at the bottom of the grip. When the shop mounted my old hunter they had it way to high.

Other then that you need to be sure that the two lines on the rest are lining up and that the rest is not moving to put these lines together until the last inch of your draw. It is best to be sure that your just getting the lines together with the least amount of pressure on the cable. To much pressure on the cable can throw your cams out of time and cause nock travel issues that could be driving the back of your arrow down into the rest.

Also your nock point could be off sending the back of your arrow down into the rest.

After I set up my rest I covered the fletching with lipstick to check for contact. No problems.

I know that my rest cord is attached to the cable close to the top of the rest...and i also know that the lines line up perfectly and its probably around that last inch mark as you were saying...I spoke with a Matthews dealer about the issue and he said that the PSE have this problem and he suggested getting a vapor trail..i know PSE makes a rest and I wonder if it would be any better? Does anyone on here have an experience with this rest from PSE?

Good to hear its working well for you. Looks like maybe I should have done a little research before I got rid of mine. I bet my problem was that it wasn't tied low enough. I guess thats what a get for not doing my home work.

I hope I did not come off like an a$$. I have always liked the features of the QAD but was apprehensive due to my earlier experience similar to yours and the OP's. I will be watching things closely with this rest going forward.

If it is the old qad it doesn't lock when it drops completely down, poor design. They improved with the LD and theHD versions with a lock out mechanism, they doesn't allow for bounce back. Much better design

When you draw the bow you want the rest to come up at the last 1/2 inch of the draw cycle. Also when down. Does the rest sit flat on your riser?

IMO the hunter is not made for these fast 300+ bows because the arrow forces the rest down so hard it bounces back up. Which is where the LD (LockDown) technology comes in handy. Also, when you are at full draw do the white hash marks line up? These are "timing marks" which is another thing to check out.
