Bow Warranty

Hey guys. I know new bows usually come with a limited lifetime warranty, but I just had a couple of questions regarding these. I bought my current bow used, so I don't think the manufacturer's warranty would apply.

But my questions are, assuming a new bow was purchased:
1. What do these usually cover and is there any requirement of proof the damage occured in regular use? Just trying to determine what kind of a hassle it would be to send back in case something did happen.
2. When does the bow need to be purchased? In other words, can you still get the warranty if you buy the bow in a different year than the model year? (i.e. if you would buy a leftover 2013 bow, or 2012 if a dealer just happened to have one in the back, in 2014, would you still be able to get the warranty?)
3. Can the bow be purchased online?
4. What would be needed to send to the bow company to get the warranty set up?

Thanks!

Warranties could be different for different bow companies, I shoot a Mathews so im going with what I know from them.

1. They cover any damages to the original factory part. This does not include cosmetic, strings, string suppressors etc. (Not sure if cams are included in that).
2. I belive so as long as its new and you are the original owner. The lifetime warranty cannot be transfered owners. So yes, you could buy a 2012 bow in 2014 as long as its brand new and still have the warranty.
3. Not sure on that. I wouldn't see why not but If you purchase it from an authorized retailer in person they should set up your warranty for you before you leave the store. Not sure how that would work online?
4. Like said in #3, if bought in person, it should be done when purchased.

I hope this helped. I bought a 2013 Mathews ZXT from Fin & Feather in Iowa City and I was very happy, warranty was set up (Hopefully ill never have to use it)! Good luck!

If you shoot an Elite you CAN transfer the warranty so it does not matter if you buy the bow on Craigslist ect ect and it has a lifetime warranty. One of the reasons my next bow is going to be an Elite. Like said above though different companys have different warrantys . What did ya get ?

My kids and I own 3 Elite bows, they are really well made and have lifetime warranties to whomever owns them (1st, 2nd, 3rd owner etc...). When I buy future bows, I plan to buy Elite's. great bows with great warranties and great customer service!

Whoop whoop. Yes Elite has a lifetime transferrable warranty. Most bow companies require you to fill out a warranty card or do it online. They warranty cosmetic or factory damages. Like stated before they don't cover the strings or dry fires etc. Most bow companies will help you as much as they can.

The thing I like about Mathews warranty is if my bow falls out of the stand and cracks a limb or the riser thats covered for replacment under warranty. Not sure If Elite has that or not but its nice to have in the back of your mind while your in the field incase something were to happen

Elite is a no fault warranty.

That means "it doesnt matter what stupid thing you may or may not have done, just dont tell us about it"
Elite even has a hunt guarantee, if your on a trip they will overnight you a new bow so u can keep hunting.
I know of a few that have been dropped out of trees or backed over my trucks... normal wear and tear kind of stuff.
Ive shot elite for 3 seasons and now my wife, brother, and a good friend are all shooting them.

I think this turned into an Elite Archery promotion thread! Nothing wrong with that. I was not aware any company would transfer the warranty to future owners. May have to go look at Elite if I get a different bow, and I guess that would open my search up to used bows again too. I currently shoot an older PSE, and thought if I was going to get something different, I was leaning toward a new bow so I could get the warranty.

So, assuming something would happen to a bow, and the company doesn't carry replacement parts at that time (which I've heard many don't after a couple years or less), do they give you a whole new bow? Credit against a new bow?

Ok, back on the bow warranty deal again, regarding Elite...does the warranty apply automatically, or only if the original owner registers it with the company? Such as in the case of buying a used bow, if the original owner doesn't register it, does the next owner get the benefit?
