Bowfishing Rig

So I am thinking about transforming an old bow to use solely for bowfishing. Is there anybody out there that bowfishes? If so, what's everybody using on their bows and what do I need to buy to get my bow set to bowfish?

company that makes bowfishing gear. stocked in most outdoors stores. i've seen the kit in sportsmans warehouse, and cablea's, bass pro, buckhollow sports, most archery shops

I've been selling an absolute ton of bowfishing supplies, arrows, rests, reels, bottle reels, line, special bows, you name it. With all the high water around RedRock the carp and gar are running around in shallow water for easy pickins (well - maybe not easy) I had one customer shoot 108 fish last Saturday!

I try to keep all the supplies and several $50 bows to make good fishing bows on hand all the time.

this is what i did.

old PSE Marauder, triangle rest, reel seat and a big ol shaspear reel. using musky braid.

Here is the link to AMS http://www.amsbowfishing.com/

The setup pictured here is one of the best designs out there. The old spool that you have to rap up by hand around and around sucks. This is just like a fishing rod/reel.

The arrows included arent real high quality. Will work if your shooting into sand. I shoot into rocks from 15 above. I'll wreck both them arrows in an afternoon.

Muzzy makes high quality stuff aswell. There is a carbon fiber/metal arrow made for shooting gar that is a AWESOME arrow, but it pretty $$ like $40 if I remeber. I think I paid 25 for my last muzzy fishing arrow.

I will post some pics if I can get into my server to get the pics.

you cant really see my setup very well.

Same setup as the AMS. I had a Mathews black max, and it was just to much for 2 feet of water and the rocks. I sold that bow and now have an old PSE POS and it works just as good. I was way more accurate with the Black Max but I ruined so many arrows.
