Brassica seeds

Still no rain on it Nick? The seed will be fine, but you probably are getting some competition coming up, right? Hopefully you get some of this weeks rain, then it will take off and be fine. I have some that I planted the same time as you, that just got a good rain finally.

You'll be ok Nick. Mine went in the ground 9 days ago and haven't had rain until today. Last year they sat for almost 2 weeks with no rain and still boomed once we got moisture. What did you end up planting?

A couple years ago I had some sit for over 3 weeks and the plot still did fine. We're getting a nice rain here now. Aren't you getting any of this?

I did dbl tree mix with a ring of clover around the outside in all the real shady stuff. There are plenty of little guys popping up other than directly under the canopy today. They got just a spit of rain a day or two after, but the rest is pretty bare.

The one positive, very few weeds so far

That is the exact same setup for a couple plots I did too. I figure I will leave the outside clover and just rotate the middle. I just got my seed down today BTW.

Sounds like great minds think alike! I also planted a ring of clover (that I mixed with some chicory) around the edges. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the brassicas in until the middle of last month and...no more rain. My smaller plot was still damp after that last rain about the 10th of July, so I had decent germination there, but very little on the big plot.

Finally got the rain on Wednesday and Thursday, so after three weeks, my germination looks great!

Last year I was unable to work up my plot and didn't get anything planted until August 10th. Then it didn't rain for 2 weeks, but by the middle of September, it looked pretty good...patchy but the deer didn't mind.
