Broadheads

I am going elk hunting next fall and am curious as to what your guy's opinions are on broadheads. My gut says muzzys, just because of the damage they do on deer, but I wonder, with the possibility of shooting 50+ yards if I want to shoot a cut on contact head. Maybe Montec or something. I know I do not want expandable. Shot 2 deer with the spitfires this year and was not impressed. Thanks for any advice. I will be shooting goldtip 55/75 and I might switch to blazers

a little nervous though. Thanks

Cut on contact would be a good choice I think. Muzzy, Montec, and Steelforce are all great choices.

Rocky mountain titanium fixed blades. They are not cut on contact but they are in my opinion the sharpest blades out there which will make up for the cut on cantact.
Next time you use a mechanical try the rocky mountain snyper. Tests have shown them to be the fastest opening mechanical on the market with big cutting diameter.

Is it not obvious I like rocky mountain heads. I could go on but either of these an elk will be in the freezer. good luck

I've never hunted elk but I like the Rocky Mountain Ti's also. Super sharp tip on them and I have never, ever, failed to get a complete pass thru with them.
I also love the looks of those Montecs and have been meaning to try them.

I've shot two elk, both with Muzzy 100gr. 3 blade heads. Both double lung broadside shots with a complete pass through. Neither went over 100 yards before going down. The MOST important thing when shooting an elk regardless of what head you choose is taking out BOTH lungs. They can go forever on one lung.

I have to ditto what Rack said. Not because he's my friend but becuase he is actually right.

I shot one at 58 yards with a 100 gr 3 blade muzzy. Went less than 100 yards before it went down. Great combo with the blazers.

G5 Montecs all the way...by far the best broadhead I have seen yet!! They fly like field points, are indestructible, cut-on-contact, and with a little time and the G5 stone you can get them razor sharp!! These blades will last a life time and are awesome!! Good luck!!
