BROADHEADS

I have some g5 montec broadheads and i shot doe couple days ago. Will the broadhead still be sharp to kill another deer or should i sharpen it. If you think i should sharpen it should i use a knife sharpner or is there a different way to do it?

I found the montecs very difficult to keep an edge on. G5 makes a specific sharpening kit for their heads. If i was to start shooting them again I think I would purchase that. They seem to be a quality head otherwise. So, yes I certainly would re-sharpen it.

Yes. I do not shoot them now but had my best luck putting an edge on them with the flat stone followed by some light strokes on 600-1000 grit auto finish sandpaper. Still could not get them as sharp as my G5 Striker blades.

Get the G5 Outdoors diamond stone (more like a steel plate), it's money well spent. Montecs are easy heads to sharpen, just rub them back and forth on the stone. Check out G5's website for a tutorial video that explains it perfectly.

I would resharpen and strop that head.

DMT stones are truely excellent for sharpening COC 3 blades like the Montec, Snuffer and Woodsman.
