I was looking at broadheads today and was wondering if the $8 ones would work? I just can't afford to spend $30 every 3 broadheads.

Of course they will work...just make sure they are sharp, and fly well...IMO the cheap ones are very sharp, and dont fly for a crap with my bow...and if you spend 30 bucks, you realize you can use them more than once..i have had some for 3 years...i just keep them sharp...

Yep- if you tried 3 different types of "cheap" ones I'm sure 1 or 2 would be awesome for you and if you tried 3 different types of EXPENSIVE $30 heads, I'm sure 1 or 2 would be awesome for you. So, just try a few out and if they are NOT flying right, switch to something else. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SPINNING YOUR FIXED BLADE HEADS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE ON PERFECTLY STRAIGHT! You can mix & match arrows/broadheads til you get them right. It's not complicated, just need a half hour on the couch watching tv and matching them up. That's my opinion & experience. My "expensive" MX-3's are matched PERFECTLY and spin PERFECT and they also fly PERFECT, I cannot tell one lick of difference between broadhead vs field tip. If I didn't spin, I'd have arrows planing all over and far less consistent groups. Good luck!

I don't know for sure, but I'm just guessing a cheap pack of broadheads (fixed or mechanical) would probably have more variance in flight accuracy between each broadhead than a more expensive set. They are probably cheaper from materials and tolerances. If the tolerances vary more, you could get 1 or 2 that fly ok and 1 or 2 that don't fly as well. Again, I don't know this for sure, just guessing.

Would it matter to you if you were shot by an expensive or a cheap broadhead;).

Buy the bargen ben heads if you want, just practice so next time you dont have to call your shot off the rock, over the barn, between the trees, off the leg into the chest:D

Any sharp broadhead will do the trick as long as you hit them in the right spot.

Thunder heads are a good cheap head that I have used in the past. and Killed a pile of deer with them. Like others have said some will do good some will do bad. From some of your past post I would recommed a machanical becouse there will be less tuning of your bow. But I would get the higher priced mechanicals. JMO.

What do you mean by spinning?

Regular muzzy 4 blade broadheads are like 38 dollars for a pack of six.So they are 6 dollars and change a piece.I have been shooting them for years without a problem.

some guys have an actual "spinner" where your arrow lays in horizontal and you "spin" it. just visually make sure everything is straight and balanced. it will show right away if its not.
You can just spin your arrow on the tip of the broadhead on a hard flat surface also standing up. I use my coffee table. It doesnt seem that often you get one out of wack, but when you do thats the only way to know. most times just unscrew the head and screw it back on and it will fix itself.

Its the same theory of spinning aluminum arrows to make sure there not bent.

Probably one of the most over-looked things I've seen, guys not spinning their arrows. You do NOT need to buy as mentioned above but it makes it handy. No matter what type of broadhead I use and arrow, I have to spend a half hour mixing and matching. I'd say on a normal run, 1 outta 4 arrows spins perfect. I just mix and match until I have 10 perfect matching heads & shafts, then I'm set for the year. If guys are NOT tuning their heads, that could be one GIANT reason they don't group well, see planing, etc. Of course there's other variables BUT a head that's not on right will not fly nearly as well.
