Buck to doe ratio

OK, so I'm gonna show my ignorace. What is a good buck to doe ratio? All I can find is the statement "Look for a good buck to doe ratio" but never any numbers. 1:2? 1:20? And does it mean a larger number of bucks per doe is a good thing? Or is it the other way around, the smaller number of bucks per doe is the way to go.

A buck to doe ratio of 1:1 is supposed to be best. Check this web site out:
