I was out last night sittin on some of my land to hopefully fill my land-owner tag...but anyway walking back to where I was sitting I noticed a buck chasing a doe on a hill about 200 yards from where I sat down...they both came past me but nothing worth shooting...but I was wondering how much longer this would be going on??

This could be a young doe coming into estrous for the first time or more probable a doe that didn't get bred or didn't conceive coming into estrous for the second time. This recycle time is approx. 28 days.

I have seen them chase clear into the latter part of january. Years ago, I saw two bruisers go head to head in an all out brawl in early january with about 4 other nice bucks as onlookers. One small doe was part of that group.

i agree with central iowa, last year in january during late muzzleloader, i had four big bucks come in chasing a doe all around me, unfortunately things didnt work out as planned, gotta love it though when it does happen, makes you remember and wish for those great days during the rut to be back!!!
