Going to be out there hunting on some ranch ground where my brother keeps cattle. Didn't know if any of you guys have hunted out that way and can let me know what to expect in mid May! I have hunted Iowa, Missouri, and Texas but never Nebraska so it should be fun and interesting!

My friend and I took these 3 longbeards in about 90 seconds in 2009 in early May. The jake he took in the morning.

After each one was shot, the ones "left over" started stomping the others. Good deal of birds in the area and a great time to be there. Good luck!

I have been hunting about 50 miles south of there for three years now and have had great luck. Where I hunt there is more birds than what a guy can kill in a life time. The hunting seems well all season long. It dosent ever seem like it lets up. I have a brother inlaw who hunts around Ord, NE that gets a bow bird every year, and says theres more bird there than a guy know what to do with. So I think you will be just fine. There might be some public hunting around Calamus lake also. Good luck to you and hope this helps.

Wow huntyak it looks like you have had some awesome luck! The rancher said there was a flock of 200 there right now but said they seem to disappear in may.... I was assuming they got out of there winter flocks and split up. Either way time with friends will make it a blast!
