BUSTED........skull

Sitting in my stand this morning, watching a shooter buck walk by me out of range. I rattle to see if he'll get closer & he didn't even care, kept walking. But this little guy comes running in. I thought he had a deformed rack but when I got the pics on the computer screen I see that he has a broken skull. This is the guy that has sparred w/ every single buck he has seen under my stand. His one antler is just hanging there.

I'll be the first to say, OUCH!!!

Maybe he sunny bono'd a tree while running through the woods.

I wonder if that could affect future antler development?

Might be a car collision. I've had them bust the antlers against my car before and run away!

I shot a buck about 10 years ago that had the same thing. When he would walk the skull must have also hit his brain somehow and he would start jerking his head and walk in circles. It was pretty weird. Fortunately I finished him off when he came by. When we skinned him out, he had a large blood coggulated area that resembled a tine slash on his rib cage. We assumed he had gotten his but whipped by someone else.
