with the 10th sneeking up on me, Im only about a week away from putting my either sex tag on a doe.The last few times Ive been out, Ive been trying to pick out the 1/2 year bucks from the Does. Ive found this is much more of a challenge at 100+ yds than at 20 yds during bow season. Some of the things I look for are deer traveling alone, or the one deer in a large group of does that seems a little overly curious, I try to pick out the mature does, but this isnt always that easy at a distance. How do you guys pick out the future trophy from his mama?

I try to look pick out the ones that have yearlings with them. Not always 100% but more times than not they are does.

I look at the heads as close as I can....does just have them really long noses that separate them from the rest of the herd. If in doubt, I just don't shoot. Last time I killed a button buck was in 1997 during MO rifle season. I thought I was still on the big old doe when she went up the other ridge, when she stopped, I was sure it was the doe and dropped HIM?????? Live and learn I guess.
