Cabelas Wind Shear

Anyone use this stuff? After this brutal winter I am trying to upgrade my arsenal of Cold Weather gear. So far all I wore was under armour a pair of pants, hooded sweatshirt and cabelas mt050 whitetail extreme parka and bibs. I always carry my parka and bibs to the stand and once I am in them its no problem with staying warm. What I am having trouble with is when I am dressed extremely light either walking to and from the stand or when I am still hunting. The wind just blasts through me. I had quite a few mile walks straight into the wind that was fairly miserable because the wind would cut right through me. Once I am in the tree I am fine and don't have any problems staying warm.

I was thinking about buying either the windshear berber fleece vest or the windshear berber fleece pullover. The vest would be nice to put underneath my parka so that my arms aren't limited much, but the pullover may be nice for bowhunting in warm weather between 30-50 degrees so that I don't have to wear the parka because it would be too warm. What to do, what to do......I figured someone here would have tried this stuff. Thanks in advance!! :)

My youngest son has the Cabelas Dimension Windshear fleece pull over and he swears buy it. Says it works great. Got me thinking I might have to get some.

i have the cabelas windshear turtleneck and i like it. i usually dont wear it into the stand though i put it on once i get there. the only downfall i have found with it is its kinda noisy for me. im kinda anal when it comes to noisy clothes and i wish it were a little quieter. i usually wear it underneath everything and over the top of my underarmour and poly. i bought the berber pullover this fall and sent it back right away as it was way to loud for me..i think they would be comfy though

Another vote for the wind shear products. I wear a microfleece turtleneck over my UA on almost every hunt. I then layer on a wind shear berber fleece vest when it's colder. This keeps me warm on most hunts in November. If it's really cold, I'll layer on a wool sweater and/or a Grey Wolf Woolens pull-over. The key for me is to cut out the wind and then I have no problems keeping warm.

I use the cabela's berber fleece with wind stopper pull over sweater. It works great for stopping the wind.

Autumn Woods Outfitters sells machine washable wool with a wind stopper liner that is excellent. You could use one of there vests for walking in and out. On really cold days you could wear it under your jacket while on stand.

I use it all the time and love it. On cold days I usually wear the cabelas wind shear turtleneck over just my long underwear top to walk to my stand. That combination along with the movement keeps me plenty warm on the walk in. Then I put the rest of my gear on when I get to the stand. Cutting the wind is half the battle to keeping warm.

I've got the wool sweater and love it. Typically wait til I get to my stand to put it on though cuz they really hold in the heat.
