calls

Most of the time i just go out with my bow, to be out side, and if a big buck comes along, I take it. so i never take any calls with me, but this year i am going to try calls, ext. what do you use, and what time of year do you use them, and has anyone had any luck with the can call?

Put a piece of tape on the botom of the can call and use it as a spitting cup. Two years ago, I used that call on several big bucks, numerous subordinates, does and fawns and the only thing it worked on was a coyote.

I use a grunt call sparingly and a doe grunt call often with good results. If used in the right situation on the right deer, calls are very effective.

Hey shredder, I used a can call last year and got my first buck

Are you sure you didn't spit in yours first? "Just funning with you"

i myself haven't had good luck with "the can" either. i never leave without my buck grunt, it always comes in handy, plus if the hunt gets boring and your seeing no deer, you can play some pretty good jingles on those grunt calls, it helps kill time!

I've had the same experience as shredder, no luck with a can call, and I don't even spit in mine. I do carry a grunt call and antlers. At this time of the year I wouldn't go beyond tickling the antlers. I love to see if I can call in old bucks that appear to have zero chance of coming in without calling.

I have had no luck with the Can either. I used it on several mature and immature deer last year and not one responded. It's a play toy for the kids now

.
Grunts calls are really the only thing that have been semi-consistant for me over the years.
