I dont do much trail cams but I am getting one for x-mas.

I heard that setting your camera over a mineral lick or other kinds of baits is illegal.

I looked on the IDNR web site and had no luck.

Does anyone know if this the case or not?

I don't think so. It's just illegal to hunt over them. Lots of people on here have them over mineral/salt licks. Including me.

Im not from IA, but from what I understand of IA laws. There is nothing in the laws about cams over bait.

Camera over bait is fine, but yeah hunting over it is illegal, and pretty much any trail leading even remotely in the same direction as the bait is illegal and even in some cases, the whole property!!!!

Licks are about the only place I run cams during the summer months. Really pulls them in for some nice mug shots. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Where I heard this from was Whitetail Freaks.

Don Kisky said it.

I seen it on TV so it must be true.

Kisky's and all the whitetail freaks have a bunch of their photos over bait!! Look at their hit list, how many have apple piles in front of them?

Baiting is only when a deer's travel is altered or something like that... If you're putting the corn out to stop /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif the deer to catch a few photos of it then its fine. Just don't use corn piles/salt licks/mineral licks/or any type of baiting for hunting over or near and you will be fine.
