I have been thinking about getting a digital trail cam and i don't know for sure which one to get. I am in a toss up between the cuddeback and the leaf river. What do you think about those two cameras? Also if you know of another let me know but i would like to try and keep it aroud $300. Thanks.

Digital cameras are definately not all created equal. Trigger time is important, under 3 seconds is good. Battery useage is very important because you gain very little with a digital trail camera if the batteries die before you get a very large quanity of images stored on the memory card. I believe Steath is the monster battery user on the market. Beyond that someone else needs to chime in.

Commercial wise...I would probably go with a cuddeback camera. Ghost has had good luck with his I know and he says the battery life is good as well

I have a Leaf River and battery life is phenomenal. Trigger time is not however and that is frustrating. Its fine on a bait pile, salt lick, or scrape but just about worthless on a trail unless you aim it straight down the path. Flash range is so-so.
If I bought another commercial cam I would try the cuddeback just to see if it was any better.

I have a cuudeback and love it. It runs on four D batteries. mine has a total of 7 months of run time and I have replaced the batteries only once. Trigger time is good,i don't think it is as good as on the commercials you see, but it is not a problem when setup ideally. Let me know if you have any other questions about it, i would be glad to help. Check out my homepage under my profile and you can see the quality of pictures i have been getting. good luck!
