Capes?

Most taxidermists I know tan their own. But I know that Ray Eserhaut sends his away. You may want to ask him? He did an incredible job on my deer a couple years back.

I take mine to Doug Vislisel in Solon. He worked for Joe Meder for many years before he started his own business in his garage. Spartan Tannery.

Cool yeah was just wondering where people took theres all our stuff goes to Spartan Tannery as well. He does a really great job almost perfect in my opinion.

Last fall's capes were the first ones I had sent to solon. Previously I sent them to Wildlife Gallery Tannery in Michigan and they do a good job as well. They smell real nice. If you want a hide just dry soft tanned I would recommend sending it there. Downside is they take about 100 business days to get capes and stuff done and they are more expensive.

Doug at Spartan Tannery does all my capes. Top notch work with very little prep work to do before mounting. I like that my money stays in Eastern Iowa too.
