Shed Head!!!
Kansasheadhunter sent me this picture this week. Not sure what the story is behind it but it appears that the archer had a little problem....

Ouch....

I've heard of this happening before. Mostly with cheap carbons or cedar shafts. The arrow has a weak spine and snaps when realeased sending the back portion of the shaft into the gripped hand. Bad news!

i feel for that guy. literally. I did the SAME EXACT THING. And yes, it does suck greatly. i was shooting some cheap carbons i bought a while ago when i first started out, and was just messing around with them instead of my CX-200's. I shot, and i just remember dropping the bow and seeing the arrow in my hand. it didnt go all the way through. probably the last 6 or 8 inches of arrow. i looked at didn't like what i saw. instinctively, i grabbed the shaft and yanked it out. i flexed my hand to check for broken bones. immediately, blood began pouring out of the hole. i ran up to the house, got my mom and a towel, and we went down to the ER, where the doc pickedout some of the bigger splinters and sewed it up with 3 stiches. its fine now, although i have a loss of feeling on parts of my hand, and i get some pain once and a while at the spot. i was shooting a bow again in about 3 weeks, just in time for bow season. im glad it wasnt worse.

one of my earliest memories was something very similar. it was right after Beman came out with their first run of carbon arrows. i was around 7 or 8 years old and at the Waltonian Archers Rendezvous shoot. my dad had his travelling archery shop and about the only ting i remember from that shoot was sitting behind the counter and then seeing some man being walked to a car, a carbon arrow through his hand. to this day i still remember this image. because of this i was EXTREMElY hesitant to try carbon or graphites and am totally anal about keeping the arrows spine requirements correct wtih my poundage.

I use carbon arrows and ya'll have my curiosity up now, but I cannot see the picture anywhere. Where do I view it?
