Well guys, I have mixed feelings with what I have to report to you. None the less, it was a cool learning experience.
The mountain lion was a rather large Bobcat. I'm glad I don't have to worry about getting pounced on while walking to the stand in the dark. I was somewhat disappointed it wasn't a big cat.
Good friend CLOACA and I headed down to get the camera packing 12 auto and 12 pump with my 8 year old son tagging along. What we found was a clean site in front of the camera and a full roll of film. The cat had eaten for several days and dragged the remains out of sight. There were several other old deer kill sites in the area.
What I learned was....1) A bobcat does indeed cover up their kills. 2) A large bobcat will take down a 100 pound deer and clean it up in several days. 3) Certain dogs tracks in hard mud can look like a mountain lion track. 4) The wait for developing at a one hour photo is a long time, even if its 25 minutes.
OneCam you were right and here he is!
