chase phase starting

scout

I had a 125 - 130 class 10pt come in with a doe yesterday afternoon. He was harassing her but not out right chasing her. Last night I saw another 10 pt I've been watching (and hope to kill) with a lone doe. A med. 8pt was skirting him at about 50 yards. I'm seeing doe groups with the fawns and lone doe's with a good buck attached. The bachelor groups seem to be or have broken up. The early bird does may "come in" over the weekend or early next week. Is anyone else seeing the same?
It breaks my heart to tell you I only work 12 out of the next 30 days! COME'ON!!!

BASTARD!!!!!!

I kid because I care Scout.

I did see some lone bucks roaming a little last evening. An 8pt that was walking like he just got the crap kicked out of him. That is the second small one in the last three days walking that way. And this was two counties apart.

scout, i have been seeing about the exact same thing as you. a few groups of does, some lone bucks, and some bucks and does together.

Mon.nite I was ready to lower my bow down when I heard deer. I waited,2 does, waited til coast was clear.started to lower bow again, heard deer, then a grunt, dam, too dark to shoot.Ten feet from my tree I can see his rack, maybe a 130.This is plenty big for me.He just stands there so, I pull back.Cant see anything, dam, so Ilet up.He runs about 30yrds.and stops. Then just walks away. This is tough to take But,thats bow hunting.I start to lower my bow agian Yea,you geussed it another der coming. Its a sm.buck But this time i'm mad so I just got out of the tree. And went home.10-31,saw sm.8point just before sunset, just after sunset a lone doe,she stood at 10 yards for about 10 min. started walking away, she was at about 40yards when from another spot coming on a dead run after her.Yes I believe its the time of year we all love.Good luck to all!!

Saw bucks chasing does all last weekend, a couple mediocre bucks 125-140 but mostly the teenagers,

The does were more bothered than receptive. Activity only during the normal morning/evening hours, Have not seen the big build up of rut sign in my area yet. No signs of midday travel and low road kills.

The best is yet to come......

I start 2 weeks vacation tomorrow, any sympathy out there for me? ......

All about the same for me as above, the best is yet to come. Oh did I mention Im off starting tomorrow till the 23. Good luck everyone.

I saw a big'un just across the road from a doe fawn group last night. He was also biding his time. I have a couple stand sites to fine tune and it's time to rock! Good thing I keep seeing a big one now and then or I would fall to the temptation of those 130's.

Sorry Scout. Due to the terrorist threats all vacations are immediately cancelled until further notice! Do you qualify for unemployment benefits? NOT!!! Maggs.

HAY HO! Just got the report from the local cement truck drivers. The one I talked to said the radio traffic was thick with reports of bucks traveling fast in the open and crossing the roads, some of considerable size. I just spotted a 2 1/5 yr 8 in a fast lope crossing a picked field and zoom across the road right past a Pamida store.

Hey guys not funny about vacation cancelled due to the terrorist threat. It really has affected some of us, me included! Shoot one for me boys!

Due to the fact that my boss is in North Dakota right now knocking the hell out of birds with web feet, I am being forced to call in sick today.

A couple of things out of the home office, then,,,,,hmmmmmm, My Dr. reccomends extend pierods of motionless sitting. Up in the air to become one with the woods.

Was out this morning and had a great hunt. I had a 10 pt. chasing a doe around and around for several minutes and then they took a rest. The 10 gave me several opportunities for 1-25 yards shots several times, but he had a busted right leg at the knee and I passed on him. I was afraid that the meat might be bad and I need that as much as a nice rack. I got a lot of experience that I have never got to see being new at this deer hunting. I got to hear that buck do a very long grunt, several seconds. The buck bedded down about 30 yards away and did that snort-weez thing that I have heard on TV and that was very cool. There was a 5 point walk up into this bucks harem and the 10 got up and approached him 10 yards from my stand but the 5 backed down and retreated. The does seem to be pretty hot right now, there was a forky that walked past my stand and picked up the trail of a doe that came by my stand earlier and trailed her back. I saw a total of 10 deer this morning and was trapped by all of them in my stand until 11:15, had a button buck eating acorns for an hour, I got real tired of him eating like a pig.

I also had a real nice 10 chasing a doe at full sprint this morning, about 7 am. He chased her out in a hay field, then stayed back in the trees. never had a shot!!!!uuhhgg. See ya
