It's on the home page right now. Here is my responce to Julie at the register.
Julie - What is the deal with all of these bogus articles that keep coming out of the register. The register is making us hunters look very bad. Using such terms as "bagging deer" when we are harvesting deer. The register keeps playing out this guy that got caught illegally poaching deer in Iowa. He got off very easy if you ask anyone who hunts in the state of Iowa. They should have their hunting privildges permentally revoked from Iowa and all other states. Granted there are certain Hot spots in the state of Iowa where deer populations are higher than other areas, and they are being addressed each season with increased numbers of tags in those hot spots. This is why we have the opportunity to participate in the Urban and Park hunts around the state. All of these new residental developments are pushing the deer herds out of their natural habitiat, and into populated areas. And the issue is being addressed. How come there is no article in the paper about the Iowa Bowhunters Association donating $500.00 reward towards the capture of the NON HUNTER that released an arrow at the buffalo in Prarie City? Your paper is clearly one sided, how can you claim to be a ethical hunter, and keep putting this stuff in the paper? Us resident Iowa hunters fully support the Iowa Dnr. It's getting harder and harder to keep or gain access to hunting land here in Iowa. If we increase the non-resident numbers this problem is going to get worse. I know personally I would be more than happy to support a increase in License fees to help keep the numbers where they are at now. Increasing the non-resident numbers is not going to help control poaching. The convicted poachers clearly had it in their mindset that they were going to come to Iowa and illegally harvest some mature whitetail bucks. I have several friends that have tried drawing elk/bear/mule deer/moose tags in several other states for several years with no luck. Iowa is no different than any other state. This email is not meant to be a personal attack on you, please don’t take it that way. It is getting very frustrating reading these articles every week in the register. You should try writing and printing the positives in the family sport of hunting rather than always writing all the negatives and bias points of view!

I had lots of other things to include but I would have been typing on there all night long. It is getting more and more frustrating reading about all this crap they keep spewing out. They truley have no clue as to what is going on in the state. I have a feeling things are going to get heated up here in the next few months. Stick to your guns and be prepared to call your legislator. Remember to be polite when talking to them. They dont know what is going on unless they hear from you the resident iowa hunter.
