Choke tube question

I'm too cheap, read that broke, to buy the turkey gun I want so I setteled for second best, I ordered a new barrel for my Mossberg 500 Slugster. I ordered the 28" ported barrel and a turkey choke. The barrel is .731" in diameter and the choke is .670" in diameter givning it a constriction of .061". With out any other data such as loads and patterning is this about right? I read on a choke manufacturer chart that I can go as high as .090" or even .100" constriction. That sounds very tight to me. As with anything else in life, something I thought was very simple has tons of science and physics behinde it and I ain't got none of that stuff behinde me.

Anyway, choke reccomendations?

Thats what Im talking about

I've seen you shoot at 20 yards... maybe we should wait on that new barrel. You could always save the $$$ and use my 12 gauge or 10 gauge as well.

True, you have seen me shoot with MY OLD SET UP at 20 yards, now I can shoot like that chick does standing on her hands. Or is it that chick that shoots right handed using her left eye to sight? I get 'em confused.

Oh yeah, I'm thinkin about another batch of saurkraut chilli for breakfast before we spend quality time together in a blind.

I'm shooting with a bow, you'll have a gun, you're sitting outside so you can see better.

If you do decide to take the ol' 500, just stick with the factory .670 choke. I have taken several birds with the 28 inch barrel and factory .670. I have killed many more with the 24 inch barrel and a Hastings, non-ported, .665 XXX choke. That thing will throw a tight pattern! My Hastings choke likes Winchester High Velocity #6's. The HV #5's patterned quite nice out of the .670 choke.
Mossbergs may be cheap and ugly...but they kill birds just as good as any other gun!
Hope this helps!

Forget all about the brand name on the gun, forget all about the choke you happen to have, forget about what shell you have chambered...

Take the time to know where your gun is patterning and what shell patterns best out of your set up!

Shoot on paper until your shoulder is sore and you have confidence in your set up...whatever it might be.

As a teenager I killed a bunch of birds with a modified choke 2-3/4" 20 gauge...
