Choose Wisely

Ghost

Life Member
All of the younger members and members still in college listen up.....

If you frequent this great site, then deer hunting is obviously a very important part of your life. If you are still in college or just have yet to enter the work force you still have time to make some good decisions that will affect how much time you will be able to spend in the deer woods. So choose your occupation and employer wisely!

The reason I am posting this is because I am now in a position to work 70 hours a week until the end of the year. The big automotive suppliers don't care one little bit if you get to the timber this Fall or not.

Money really doesn't matter when you have a target buck in your sights!

Good Luck this Fall and enjoy every precious minute in the timber you can!

Boy Ghost you get all the luck don't ya??

Hmmm lets see now,
70 hrs/week =
7-10 hr days
4-17.5 hr days
3-straight days

Last one still leaves 3 days for hunting after the required 24 hr nap!!

Good luck getting into the woods, I hope you get to make the most of the time there as well.

Thanks for the advice ghost that sucks you have to work 70 hour weeks, I think I would go nuts. Right now with college I dont think Im ever gonna get in the woods Let's hope chemical engineers get some descent work hours and time off come november I think the real reason, i have been at college so long is because getting the whole late muzzleloader season off for christmas break is VERY VERY appealing to me, and not to mention the whole week off for thanksgiving isnt too bad either, It's only money right, like you said money doesn't really matter when you have a target buck in your sights

It may seem like a lot of work right now, Mike, but sticking it out with college will pay off. You'll end up in a salaried job with paid vacation that you can use for hunting. Working as an architect after six years of college and two degrees, I've found that there are times when long hours are required, but usually these can be arranged around the hunting seasons. I've never had any trouble getting the time off that I've needed.

Eighteen months until my Bachelors degree in Business Management and Marketing are done and I can't wait. The good thing about my position is that I own my own business and it offers great time to go hunting and do the things I love to do. There are times that I have long days, but the short days and time that I get in my tree stand make up for them.

Ghost, at least you'll still have access to IW while your working those long hours. I bet you still manage to take the little ghosts out.

Yes and you can still dream about hunting on those long work days!

Sorry to here about that Ghost, keep your head up and get in the woods every free minute you have.

You can always quit and be Ironwoods assistant realtor. I here he gets to work around 10am and leaves at 2pm

Make the best of it bud.....I would like to see you get out in the woods more than you were last season. It is hard to kill a good buck if you can't get in the man hours like you wish you had. I'll head up sometime next week with some frosties.

hell ghost, just put auggie in charge and take the afternoons off, should be fine...right??

That's really too bad, Ghost. I didn't know what type of job you had, but after seeing that video, I had thought that you were a dancer and worked mostly nights.

I'm not trying to be a thread-killer here, but I know some folks from Newton who would kill to have that guarunteed OT for the rest of the year.
I know it screws up your deer season, but you could also be glad to have the work!

Ghost, that sucks. Would be a shame to let those stands go empty though. I'm sure some of your loyal IW boys wouldn't mind keeping them warm for you

Pharmer, good point, thankfully I choose the latter

Sorry to hear about your schedule Ghost. That really bites, hopefully things will open up at the right time and you'll get the break it sounds like you'll need.

Nonres, Moose what did your Realtors do to you. 10:00 to 2:00 is correct, then again 3:45 to 7:00, then 8:00 to 10:00. My wife love my hours.

Muddy, thats an idea, but I'm in the same boat too. You really got to love going to work in the dark and leaving in the dark

Ironwood,
I am married to a realtor I know the dismal hours that you all sometimes work
smirk.gif
. Clients call her cell up to 11 pm sometimes and it starts around 7am. Like moose I was just given you a hard time
