We had just got home from Omaha/Council Bluffs (I bought my tag, a new strutter decoy, and some camo wrap for my gun) I figured I would try my strutter and headed out to my normal spot. I drove down to my spot and there was a hen 10 yards from the road so I drove past and stopped over the hill and heard 2 gobblers (on our neighbors property). I got out of my car with my blue jeans (more or less grey jeans) and snuck over the hill to the corner of our property and the neighbors CRP field. I heard another gobble over the hill from me and was freaking out because I figured he'd see my car and bolt. There's a small tree in the corner and I snuck up to it to see if I couldn't see the gobbler and he was on his way to a hen on the other side of the road but I was between him and the hen. I sat there as he strutted for a bit at 60 yards and I purred a little bit and that got him going. I rested my gun on the barb wire and he started creeping up slowly to me and at 30 yards I let him have it! I thought it was a good shot but when I ran up to him I saw I had got his legs and he flew off about 10 yards and I ran right to him and popped him with bird shot at 5ft or so and that was the end of him. Needless to say I didn't QUITE make it to my cedar where I shot my other bird, nor do I get to use my BRAND NEW decoy. At least I got on to put on the wall, this guy is hopefully going to get mounted. So more or less 3 hours after I got my tag it was filled I'm a happy kid!
