Climbing Stand Advice

I have acquired a couple of more properties to bowhunt next year, but due to being far away I have decided to buy a climbing stand so I don't have to worry about my stands getting jacked. I have narrowed my search down to the Summit Ultimate Viper SS and the Lone Wolf Alpha Sit & Climb Combo. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on which of these to get? The Summit is more expensive but it looks extremely comfortable.

I use a summit climber and a lone wolf hang-on.Either one are great stand's but for comfort I would say go with the summit. Not sure about the comfort of a lone wolf as mine is a hang on type.

Typically I would have said the Summit is heavier but more comfortable and the Lonewolf is lighter, but the newly redesigned seat on the LoneWolf is much nicer that it used to be.
I typically sell lots more of the Summit (partially due to a cheaper price) - the Razor being the best seller. The Summit Ultimate Viper SS is a very trick set-up and awesome to hunt out of but tends to be a little heavier with all the goodies.

I am a dealer for both and would be happy to help you pick the right stand for your needs.

If it were your choice would you get the Razor or the Ulimate Viper SS? Which one is a safer and easier climb?

The razor doesn't have all the features of the UltimateViperSS but it does what most want it to(and is lighter and cheaper). You can set the bar out and and use it as a sit-and-climb stand and then fold it back under so its not in the way of shooting.

As far as safe and easy climb - they work identically.

You have any Razors in stock? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif My Silverado just told me it wants to take a trip to Pella sometime soon...

Actually, I do - and a lot cheaper than Cabelas and such places.
Let me know when you'd like to stop in and we'll fix you up with the perfect stand to fit you.

I got a summit and love it easy to use and very comfy. My buddy has one that you have to strap your feet in and hates it. The feet hooks on the summit are very simply, easy and quick to start climbing. Not sure about about the LW.

I am not really a climber guy, in fact I hate them. But I do have the LW sit & Climb and Hand climber. I originally had the old seat for LW and now have the new seat and will say I love the stand with the new seat. It packs together nice and tight, is light, quiet and very comfortable to sit in. I really like how there are no pins to drop. I am not sure what the new summits are like, but hear good things about them as well. I doubt you could go wrong with either.

I have all the stands sitting there in the garage, but 99% of the time I grab the LW Alpha hang on and sticks. I have a heck of a time finding climber trees, and if you do find a good one, 9 times out of 10 its not where you need to be. I see so many guys limiting theirselves by hunting out of climbers. Plus I can actually get up a tree just as fast with a hang on as a climber. I am not that graceful with a climber.

If you have a good piece of property with alot of good climber trees then that will be the ticket for yah!!! Goodluck choosing one, Gunrunr will set yah up!!!

I think I'm sold on the Razor and hopefully can go pick it up on Friday, thanks for all the info guys!

LIV, yeah the properties that I got permission for I've turkey hunted on the last few years and have a lot of really straight trees that will be good for a climber. I have the lone wolf sticks and a light Ameristep for the tough ones.

I've got a Razor and absolutely love it. The suspension seat is incredibly comfortable and the arm rests are nice as well. I got the footrest attachment for it which was icing on the cake particularly for all day hunts. Once you sit in one of these you get spoiled, makes even a quality hang-on seem like sitting on a load of bricks. That said, I do 90% of my hunting on bricks. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Doubt you'll beat Boyd's prices either. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif
